Jan 3, 2025: Left from Jiangmen Station in the evening, took the “Water Fish Express” train to Zhanjiang West Station (ticket 213 RMB), then transferred to a green-skin train to Haikou (hard sleeper, ticket 141.5 RMB). Arrived in Haikou around 6 a.m. Didn’t sleep at all on the train—surrounded by loud snorers. Transferred at Haikou Station to Chengxi Station via intercity train (6 RMB), then went out for morning tea (San Shun Teahouse) before heading to the hotel for a nap.

Jan 4, 2025: Went to the Haikou Cloud Cave Library in the evening to watch the sunset (near Century Bridge), then had coconut chicken hotpot at Hainan Fresh (Fuguo Commercial Plaza) at night. This place is relatively cheaper.

Jan 5, 2025: Visited the Hainan Provincial Museum in the morning, then went to Wugong Shrine in the afternoon (47 RMB admission, not much to see, not worth it), and in the evening went to Fudi Night Alley (night market / snack street).

Jan 6, 2025: Had coconut chicken again at noon, then took the intercity train from Haikou East Station to Meilan Airport (8 RMB), flew to Beijing Daxing in the evening (446 RMB ticket). Passed by the Coconut Tree Group along the way and took two photos. Originally planned to visit Qiongtai Academy in the afternoon, but found it closed.

Beijing
Jan 7, 2025: Arrived at Beijing Daxing Airport at 1 a.m., took the airport shuttle bus to the hotel to drop off luggage and take a shower. At 4 a.m., took a taxi to Tiananmen Square to queue for the flag-raising ceremony. Entered the square after an hour-long wait around 5:30 a.m., secured a front-row spot, stood there until the flag-raising began at 7:30 a.m. After the ceremony, immediately queued to enter the National Museum. The museum opens at 9 a.m., so another wait of over an hour. (Note: Entry to Tiananmen Square requires advance reservation, as do all attractions within the square.)
After touring the museum, returned to the hotel to catch up on sleep.

Jan 7, 2025: After napping, came out at 8 p.m. It was lightly snowing (tiny snowflakes, lasted less than half an hour). Took the subway to Wangfujing, had zhajiangmian (very greasy, hard to eat, but their yogurt was quite tasty), then found shared bikes and cycled at night around Tiananmen.

Jan 8, 2025: Visited Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and the Great Hall of the People in the morning, then Tiananmen Tower at noon. In the afternoon, dined at Siji Minfu for roast duck (over 400 RMB for two people, quite expensive, small portion of duck meat, but delicious).

Jan 10, 2025: Took a high-speed train in the morning (from Beijing North Station to Badaling Great Wall Station, 23 RMB) to climb the Great Wall at Badaling, reached the 12th watchtower in the north. In the afternoon, dined at Quanjude for roast duck, then visited the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan). On the way back to the hotel, stopped briefly at the entrance of Tsinghua University to take a photo (failed to get a reservation—Tsinghua visits are by lottery).

On the morning of January 11, 2025, I went ice skating at the Lianhuachi Ice Rink, then had hotpot for lunch. After that, I headed to the Capital Airport and flew to Wenzhou, transferring to Shenzhen (airfare: 638 RMB). I stayed overnight at Wenzhou Longwan Airport and took an early flight to Shenzhen on January 12, 2025. Upon arrival in Shenzhen, I took a bus via the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link to Zhuhai.

Macau
On the morning of January 13, 2025, I entered Macau via the Gongbei Port (called “Portas do Cerco” in Macau), took a complimentary shuttle bus (offered by casinos to transport passengers between ports and hotels) to Grand Lisboa, where I registered as a member and received a 100 HKD bonus. I then exchanged 100 HKD for 200 chips and played dice, betting 200 each time on “Big” for three consecutive rounds. I won twice and lost once, eventually leaving with 400 HKD (100 in, 400 out). Next, I visited the Church of St. Dominic (Rose of God Church) and the Ruins of St. Paul, proceeded to the Fortaleza do Monte, and went to Wynn Macau to see the “Money Tree” (Auspicious Tree). Then, I took the Macau Light Rapid Transit to Taipa, getting off at Cotai West, and explored The Venetian, The Parisian, and The Londoner. I also walked around Guan Yi Street before taking a complimentary shuttle back to the border crossing and returning to Zhuhai. The next day, everyone went home separately.
