I’m looking for recommendations for an 8-channel, unidirectional logic level shifter to translate from 3.3V to 5V.
I’m very familiar with common 8-channel bi-directional transceivers like the TXS0108, but that’s not what I need for this application. My requirement is strictly one-way (3.3V in, 5V out).
I’m preferably looking for a straightforward chip, ideally with a clean pinout (e.g., all inputs on one side and all outputs on the other).
It’s been a while since I’ve had to source a part like this, so I’m a bit out of the loop on the current “go-to” model numbers.
MOSFETs are expensive, so I always use transistors and haven’t encountered any issues. Alternatively, a diode works too—just add a pull-up resistor to the 5V pin. I use all these for UART level matching with Bluetooth or 4G modules, and so far, there have been no problems with the 115200 baud rate.
Thank you all.
I’ve chosen the SN74HCT245PWR, which is powered by 5V and can recognize a high level at 2V—perfect for my use case.
I don’t build the circuit myself because there are 24 channels; an integrated circuit is the only option.
